PHOTO GALLERY OF THE GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY OF 13 JULY 2011

Below you will see photos of the preparation for the groundbreaking ceremony, followed by shots of the ceremony itself.

Preparations include shots of sand being delivered for the cement used to make the cement blocks onsite, wetting down of the blocks prior to construction, digging of the pit for the workers’ latrine, and construction of the latrine itself. As you can see, young and old alike from Camp Louise are eager to help in any way they can. In this way the children learn responsibility and the value of the community working together. You will also see the welcome banners strung across the road to welcome the missionaries from The Silver Spring Church of God, and the setting up of the shelter for the groundbreaking ceremony.

GALLERY OF PHOTOS TAKEN ON THE WAY TO THE ORPHANAGE SITE
The missionaries from The Silver Spring Church of God are on their way by water taxi (kannòt) and 4×4 from Labadie, via a drive through Cap Haitien. Banners near the water welcomed the missionaries to Labadie. The missionaries stopped at the Paolo Freire School on the way to the groundbreaking site. Teacher Rose Carmelle is giving them a French lesson. You also see Reverend LaJuana Caldwell, Rose Carmelle and Evangelist Ernestine (“Tina”) Greene in front of the school office. The school and orphanage are located in the middle of farmlands. The man with his cow was just across the road from the school office.

CEREMONY ON THE SITE OF THE LITTLE ANGELS OF THE BROKEN WINGS ORPHANAGE, 13 JULY 2011

The first two photos show Dr. Mésidor and then Bro. Pierre’s brother addressing and encouraging the students assembled for the ceremony. Following them, Evangelist Greene is seen singing “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” and then Reverend Caldwell greets the assembly. A boy sings a solo about praying the way David prayed, and two girls sing a song about proper hygiene to avoid contracting cholera.

Next we see the presentation of greetings and blessings from the students. Each was signed and personally delivered to the three missionaries from The Silver Spring Church of God. This is just a sampling of photos, for the missionaries received about 30 greetings each. Seen here are Evangelist Tina Greene, Reverend LaJuana Caldwell, and Bro. Ross Lewchuk. About 130 children from Camp Louise were in attendance.

Next we see Reverend Caldwell and her translator Yankie reading the dedication Scripture, Romans 4: 13-25. Evangelist Greene and Reverend Caldwell are shown as they help make cement blocks for the orphanage, assisted by one of the Haitian workers (who does the heavy lifting for them). Bro. Ross Lewchuk brought in some recorders to help with the students’ music education, and you see two young men each with one. Evangelist Greene intereacts with some little ones during the meal, and Bro. Lewchuk is shown pronouncing the benediction.

Bro. Joseph Pierre most graciously provided his home for the missionaries’ stay. Here they are seen as they prepare to leave for Port-au Prince.
